LucidSeal exists to help organisations make responsible technology visible. Our framework turns the principles of privacy, security, transparency, and community into simple, everyday actions that anyone can follow.

We believe responsible technology starts with small, meaningful steps, not with technical jargon or complex audits. LucidSeal is here to make privacy, transparency, and security accessible for all teams, regardless of size or expertise.

Build Community Confidence
Digital trust is a shared journey. LucidSeal connects people and organisations, fostering a network where learning, accountability, and safety grow together.

What is Digital Trust?

It’s the confidence people have that you handle data and systems responsibly.

  • Clarity: say what you collect and why.
  • Accountability: show evidence, not just intent.
  • Resilience: prepare, respond, and learn.

Digital Trust is built on practical actions that respect privacy, ensure security, and embrace transparency.

The LucidSeal Principles

Privacy by Default Transparency in Action Secure Foundations Community First

Privacy by Default

Build trust by minimising what you collect.

Trust begins with restraint. By minimising the data we collect and limiting how long we keep it, we reduce risk and respect people’s boundaries. Privacy isn’t a feature to bolt on later-it’s built in from the start.

Transparency in Action

Share clearly, in plain words and on time.

People deserve to know what’s happening in terms they can understand. Clear, timely updates create accountability and show respect for those who rely on us. Transparency means removing jargon and sharing openly, even when it’s uncomfortable.

Secure Foundations

Patch, prepare, control access.

Strong security is about discipline, not complexity. Staying current with updates, planning for incidents, and controlling access reduces the chance of harm. Security must be simple, repeatable, and a shared responsibility.

Community First

Trust grows when everyone has a voice.

The LucidSeal Network turns listening and feedback into visible commitments, helping organisations learn from each other and stay accountable. When we grow together, Digital Trust becomes stronger for everyone.

What LucidSeal is not

  • Not a certification or audit.
  • Not legal advice or a compliance attestation (a formal statement of compliance).
  • Not a Badge - A Commitment

LucidSeal is not a certification or compliance mark. We provide guidance, not judgement; a starting point, not an endpoint. Our Trust Pages reflect real steps you take to build confidence online-and we lower barriers so every organisation can begin this journey.

"LucidSeal is a starting point to make Digital Trust visible and practical.
It’s not a replacement for legal, compliance, or security expertise."

A Message from the Founder

As our world becomes ever more digital, the need for trust, transparency, and safety online has never been greater.

LucidSeal is my personal contribution-a community-driven framework built to help with tangible steps toward a safer digital future.

For today’s children, the digital world is the only world they’ll know. It’s our responsibility to ensure it reflects the values we care about: privacy, honesty, transparency, and respect.

LucidSeal exists so that any business, organisation, or community-regardless of size, resources, or expertise-can begin their Digital Trust journey today. By lowering barriers, sharing tools freely, and fostering collaboration, we not only protect the most vulnerable but also strengthen communities everywhere.

Thank you for joining us in this mission. Together, we can create a digital environment where future generations are empowered, respected, and safe.

- Bryan Chetcuti, Founder

No. LucidSeal is participation-based, not an official certification. It’s about openness and improvement, not passing or failing a standard.

The LucidSeal badge is a free, shareable mark that says: we take Digital Trust seriously. By default, the badge is generic - no scores, no dates, no hidden data.

Want to go further?

The idea

LucidSeal helps organisations show in practical, transparent ways - how they protect privacy, security, and people.
The Network brings those efforts together in one place: a living collection of Trust Pages built in the open and updated over time.

Each Trust Page reflects action, not aspiration - a public record of progress toward stronger Digital Trust.

How to Contribute

  1. Complete the Digital Trust Check to identify strengths and areas to grow.
  2. Create or update your Trust Page on your website.
  3. (Optional) Add your LucidSeal Badge and share your link to join the Network Register.

Every LucidSeal Trust Page is a live expression of commitment - not a badge earned once, but a promise kept over time.

Start here - build your Trust Page, share it, and become part of a network making openness the new default.

Build Your Trust Page

What to include, why it matters, and how to keep it simple.

Why a Trust Page?

A Trust Page is your public statement of transparency. It shows how your organisation protects privacy, security, and people - in your own words, on your own site.

What to Include

Highlight the actions that build confidence: your privacy notice, security practices, responsible disclosure process, or digital wellbeing commitments. Keep it focused and human.

  • Plain-English Privacy Summary - plus a link to your full policy.
  • Security Practices - how you protect data (non-technical, practical).
  • Roadmap / Next Improvements - 2–5 concrete steps + a review date.
  • Contact / Feedback - how people can raise questions or concerns.
  • Last Updated - an obvious date to signal freshness.
Writing Tips

Write for clarity, not compliance. Use plain language, avoid jargon, and explain the “why” behind your choices. Trust grows when people can understand what you say.

Simple Page Outline
  1. Intro - what your organisation stands for.
  2. Privacy - how data is collected and protected.
  3. Security - how systems and people stay safe.
  4. Transparency - how you communicate updates or incidents.
  5. Contact - how people can reach you.

Make the “Last updated” date prominent.

Share Your Trust Page

Once your Trust Page is live, share the link and we’ll add you to the LucidSeal Network Register - a growing list of organisations taking real, visible steps toward Digital Trust.

What to include

Your organisation name, Trust Page URL, and (optional) LucidSeal Badge or logo link.

We’ll verify the link and list it. Listing is participation-based, not a certification.

The LucidSeal Network Registery

Every name in this registery represents action - organisations choosing to make trust visible and helping others do the same.

Together, we’re building a culture of openness where Digital Trust is seen, shared, and strengthened over time.

Trust

Where Digital Trust Begins - This Trust Page shows how LucidSeal puts transparency, privacy, and security into action.

Privacy

  • Local-first scoring: all results are calculated in your browser.
  • No default storage: nothing leaves your device unless you choose to share.
  • Optional share: if you opt in, we only store your score, method version, and review date.
  • Deletion: you can revoke an opt-in share at any time; we’ll remove the public page.

Terms of Use

  • Self-assessed: LucidSeal is a framework, not a certification or audit.
  • Guidance only: content is not legal or compliance advice.
  • Your responsibility: you decide how to act on your results.

Infrastructure & Delivery Partners

We build in the open and keep dependencies simple.

  • Hosting: Cloudflare (CDN, DNS, KV, app hosting)
    Tap for more

Pages/Workers serve the app globally via the CDN edge. DNS, TLS, and caching are managed on Cloudflare, and KV is used for lightweight, low-latency key–value storage at the edge.

Goal: fast, low-ops delivery with a minimal attack surface.

  • Assets: Cloudflare R2 (object storage)
    Tap for more

Public assets (badges, templates, and documentation) are stored in R2 and served through a custom domain. Uploads are version-controlled in GitHub and synced to R2, prioritizing durability and predictable costs.

Additional delivery sources include cdn.jsdelivr.net (for versioned GitHub-hosted files) and view.officeapps.live.com (for browser-based previews of Office documents).

Known constraint: deletes in Git may not immediately remove objects in R2; we track and tidy periodically.

  • Support: Atlassian Jira Service Desk
    Tap for more

Community requests (e.g., Trust page submissions) are handled through JSM forms and queues.

Data minimisation applies - we only ask for what’s needed to action your request.

  • Source: GitHub (lucidseal org)
    Tap for more

We publish core repos publicly for transparency and community input. Issues and Discussions capture roadmap ideas and bug reports.

Some deployment/infra repos may remain private for security. Public repos include README docs, changelogs, and contribution notes.

  • Status monitoring: BetterStack
    Tap for more

Simple URL and host checks cover the web app, API, and assets, with a public status page for transparency. We’ll expand checks as features grow.

Incidents include concise timelines and remediation notes.

  • Analytics: none in the Preview
    Tap for more

No third-party analytics or trackers are embedded. Operational insights rely on server-side logs, uptime checks, and opt-in feedback.

We may add privacy-preserving analytics later, announced on the Status page and Trust page first.

Technical Notes

For those interested in the technical underpinnings of LucidSeal, here’s how we approach security, reliability, and controlled access behind the scenes.

  • CSP: Strict defaults; assets only from assets.lucidseal.org, API only from api.lucidseal.org.
    Tap for more

We enforce a strong Content Security Policy (CSP) to block third-party scripts, inline code, and untrusted frames. Only LucidSeal asset and API domains are explicitly allowed, reducing the risk of malicious injections.

  • HTTPS only: Enforced with HSTS preload.
    Tap for more

All traffic is served over TLS. HTTP requests are redirected, and HSTS preload ensures modern browsers will never connect insecurely - even on first visit.

  • CORS: Restricted to lucidseal.org and staging.
    Tap for more

Cross-Origin Resource Sharing (CORS) is tightly limited. Only our main domain and staging environment can call the API, preventing untrusted sites from embedding or misusing responses.

  • Backups: Static assets stored redundantly in object storage.
    Tap for more

Assets are replicated across multiple storage zones. If one copy fails, another can be restored quickly, ensuring resilience without complex infrastructure.

  • API: Public endpoints documented.
    Tap for more

The API powers Digital Trust Check submissions and result sharing. An OpenAPI spec is available for developers who want to understand the contract and integrations.
